FEATURED PROCEDURES

  • Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, also called augmentation mammoplasty, breast enhancement, or placement of breast implants, has been one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures for decades. If you'd like to enlarge your breasts and improve your cleavage, breast augmentation at Newman Plastic Surgery and Laser Center is the ideal option.

Dr. Newman’s philosophy is to focus on your education about breast augmentation procedures as they apply to your specific situation and desires. Once he understands exactly the result you desire, he will then discuss the options necessary to achieve your goals, choosing the best breast implants and procedure for you. He will discuss your options, from implant size to profile to type to shape.

  • Breast Lift

Do your breasts sag, either naturally or as a result of breastfeeding, gravity, or the aging process? If so, a breast lift in NYC may be right for you. Dr. Newman sees patients for consultation regarding breast lift surgery in his Long Island, Westchester, or Manhattan offices. The breast lift, or mastopexy, procedure is used to address breasts that have developed a loose or droopy shape as a result of pregnancy, weight loss, and aging. When properly planned the breast lift procedure will restore the breast shape including perkiness and upper breast fullness. A breast lift is a shape-changing procedure and may be done together with a breast augmentation or breast reduction. Breast unevenness, or asymmetry, can also be corrected at the same time.

  • Breast Reduction

Overly large breasts can lead to several physical issues. These can include posture problems, painful rashes beneath the breasts, bra-strap indentations, and chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain. Oversized breasts can also draw unwanted attention and make it difficult to exercise and find properly fitting tops.

If you're tired of the physical and emotional issues caused by your overly large breasts, it's time to visit Dr. Newman for a breast reduction in NYC. A breast reduction, also called reduction mammoplasty, reduces the breasts in size and lightens them, ensuring that they are a better and more natural fit for your frame.

  • Breast Reconstruction

The breast cancer treatment process is an incredibly difficult journey. After a single or double mastectomy procedure has been performed to treat or prevent breast cancer, many patients often wish to restore the shape, size, and appearance of their breasts.

Breast reconstruction in New York can effectively accomplish this. It can be performed during the same procedure as mastectomy surgery as a single procedure, or it may be performed during a future surgical session.

  • Breast Augmentation Revision

After a primary breast augmentation, there are cases where people feel unhappy with their results. This may be due to issues that occurred during initial breast augmentation or breast lift surgery, unexpected healing issues, or simply not achieving desired results. Revision breast augmentation, also known as secondary breast augmentation, can be used to correct implant malposition or shift, capsular contracture (tightness of the scar-tissue capsule that naturally forms around an implant), rippling, and a variety of other issues. Dr. Newman is an expert in improving the results in patients who have previously had breast augmentation or breast lift surgery.

Plastic Surgery FAQs

There are countless plastic surgeons in NYC, which can make selecting a surgeon feel incredibly daunting. This is especially true because when it comes to choosing a plastic surgeon in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester, including areas such as Manhattan, Great Neck, Manhasset, Roslyn, Scarsdale, White Plains, and Greenwich, it’s important to pick the best possible option.

There are several ways to make this process easier. First, only consider surgeons who have a great deal of experience with your chosen procedure. Experts in breast surgery, for example, are a better option than more generalized plastic surgeons. Dr. Newman has performed over 7,000 breast procedures, more than most plastic surgeons in the United States.

Additionally, it’s best to select a plastic surgeon who is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, like Dr. Newman. Board-certified plastic surgeons undergo a great deal of training and pass numerous rigorous tests to achieve this status, ensuring that they have the highest possible degree of skill. It is also important that your surgeon is an Active Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Aesthetic Society.

You should meet with several plastic surgeons for personalized consultations. During these consultations, you’ll need to ask questions that will help you better understand their experience levels and perspectives. Creating a list of questions in advance will be the best way to be as prepared as possible.

These consultations should include looking over the plastic surgeon’s before-and-after photos. This will help you find out which surgeons create the highest-quality work and would thus be most likely to provide satisfactory results.

Additionally, meeting with plastic surgeons for consultations allows you to gauge your rapport, which will be incredibly important during the entire process. You need a plastic surgeon who will listen to your aesthetic goals, assess your needs effectively, and offer empathetic support throughout your plastic surgery journey.

Dr. Newman will typically spend 30-60 minutes or longer for your initial Breast Augmentation or Breast Lift consultation in his Westchester, Long Island, or Manhattan offices. You should expect to leave your consultation with a full understanding of the procedures discussed and why these procedures are the best choices for you.

The vast majority of people assume that cosmetic surgeons and plastic surgeons are the same. They share a number of similarities: Both have received a great deal of medical training, both own and operate medical practices, and both regularly perform cosmetic surgical procedures.

However, there are several key differences that set them apart. First, cosmetic surgeons are frequently not plastic surgeons. They have not completed training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and they have not completed residencies in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Additionally, doctors in other specialties can call themselves cosmetic surgeons without actually having the necessary experience. If a doctor has a medical license, they can legally perform cosmetic procedures.

There are also major differences between board-certified plastic surgeons and board-certified cosmetic surgeons. The boards that certify them (the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery) have different requirements.

First, both types of surgeons must undergo four years of training in medical school. Board-certified plastic surgeons must then complete five to six years in a residency program that specifically involves general surgery and plastic surgery training.

Board-certified cosmetic surgeons instead must complete four to six years in a residency program that involves training in one specialty. Options for this can include obstetrics and gynecology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, general surgery, or plastic surgery. Cosmetic Breast procedures including Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, and Breast Reduction procedures should never be performed by any physician other than a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon.

The most common cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are liposuction, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, breast lift, and blepharoplasty. These body, breast, and face procedures have achieved popularity based on their satisfying, reliable, and long-lasting results.

Liposuction can reduce and contour almost any area of the body by removing excess fatty tissue. It is incredibly popular due to its versatility. Lipo can address stubborn fat in regions like the upper arms, thighs, calves, knees, abdomen, buttocks, chest, upper back, lower back, flanks, jawline, and neck.

Breast augmentation increases breast size and projection, while the breast lift reduces breast sag and restores perkiness. Both of these options enhance the look of the breasts, giving patients a more balanced figure and helping them achieve their aesthetic goals.

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, focuses specifically on the abdomen. This procedure contours away excess stubborn abdominal fat, tightens sagging abdominal wall muscles, and trims away drooping excess abdominal skin. The result is a trim, sculpted, and in-shape tummy that patients feel great showing off.

Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery or the eye lift, reduces signs of aging in the eyelids to make people look more youthful and alert. It can get rid of sagging in the upper and lower eyelids, take care of puffiness, and smooth out wrinkly eyelids. It involves removing and repositioning excess fat, along with trimming and tightening excess skin and sagging muscles.

This is a common question with a complex answer. Just like other types of surgery, there is no one “safest” type. All procedures come with a chance of potential complications during and after the surgical procedure. Certain plastic surgeries are more invasive and involve larger incisions, while others are less invasive and require smaller incisions.

Regardless of the type of plastic surgery you are undergoing, what is most important is making sure that it is being performed as safely as possible. This can be achieved in numerous ways.

First, ensure that the plastic surgeon you’ve selected is board-certified, has a great deal of experience in the chosen procedure, and has a low rate of complications from previous procedures. This information can be gathered during a consultation.

Second, ensure that your chosen procedure is being performed in a state-of-the-art accredited facility. This means that their equipment is as up-to-date as possible, their facility is clean and their staff is well-trained and highly qualified. This will help prevent infections and allow the surgeon to address any unexpected complications quickly and effectively.

Third, learn as much as you can about the procedure you’re undergoing. This includes learning about the potential risks, their degree of severity, and how likely they are to occur.

Fourth, meet with your board-certified plastic surgeon for a consultation. During this consultation, they will perform a physical evaluation and ask you questions about your complete medical history. This can include questions regarding current medications and supplements, past procedures and treatments, allergies, and pre-existing medical conditions. With this information, your surgeon will be able to ensure a high degree of safety.

Fifth, follow your board-certified plastic surgeon’s preparation and recovery instructions as closely as possible. Write these directions down, make sure you understand them, and be sure to ask questions. You will need to avoid smoking, taking certain medicines, and drinking alcohol before the date of your procedure, since these can increase the risk of complications.

A med spa, or medical spa, provides minimally invasive and non-invasive treatments in a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere just like our state-of-the-art Westchester Med Spa. Treatments can be used to address skin imperfections, contour the body, or temporarily add volume to facial features. Many med spas also offer treatments typically found at day spas, like waxing and tanning. The MedSpa at Newman Plastic Surgery and Laser Center in Westchester uses medical and surgical technology to rejuvenate skin and change the aging process.

To be considered a med spa, a doctor must be involved in some aspect of the business’s operation. Some med spas are owned by doctors like dermatologists or plastic surgeons, while others are affiliated with these doctors.

Remember, not all med spas are reputable. Certain med spas have poor hygiene and sterilization practices, and while these med spas may offer cheaper treatments, this can come at the cost of quality and safety. Many med spas are unequipped to handle complications, and many are owned by doctors in fields that are unrelated to aesthetics, like gastroenterology and cardiology.

While many med spas can be an excellent option, a lot of the treatments they offer are also provided at the offices of skilled and experienced board-certified plastic surgeons. These include BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport, Restylane, and other dermal fillers, chemical peels, microneedling, SculpSure®, dermaplaning, and laser treatments.

Med spas do not offer any surgical procedures. At the office of a board-certified plastic surgeon that offers med spa treatments, patients can undergo treatments that combine surgical and non-surgical techniques, creating enhanced results.

Dr. Newman and our skilled Nurse Esthetician, Sandra Signorelli, have a great deal of experience with non-surgical treatments and will be happy to help you achieve optimal results. Contact us to learn more about our many med spa treatments and combination procedures.

The exact cost of a breast augmentation in NYC varies from patient to patient, since every patient has their own specific needs and aesthetic goals. The total price of breast enlargement depends on a number of individualized factors.

Breast augmentation cost can be impacted by the characteristics of the chosen breast implant, including manufacturer, size, type, shape, and profile. Other factors that can play a role in determining the cost of this procedure include the specific techniques utilized by Dr. Newman, anesthesia fees, and the total time required to perform the breast augmentation surgery.
