Resolutions Include Finally Having the Surgery They Have Been Contemplating for Years
New York City: Dec 28, 2010 – Prominent New York Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Scott E Newman predicts 2011 to see a rise in cosmetic surgical procedures, more so to the areas between the neck and hips.
The rise can be attributed to many factors; including women and men seeking to be more competitive in the workforce, more acceptability in the public’s eye- thanks to realty TV, individuals looking to make a life change, and post-weight reduction surgery. Dr. Newman’s Top Ten plastic surgery procedures for 2011 are:
10- Breast Reduction – is a lifting and reduction of the size and mass of the breast, women seek out this surgery to reduce pain in their back, minimize pressure from bra straps on shoulders and for a better fit in clothing. Techniques with fewer scars are becoming more common for some cases.
9- Male breast reduction –More and more males are seeking this procedure to reduce gynecomastia sometimes referred to as Moobs or Man-Boobs, a condition in which the male breast tissue becomes enlarged.
8- Brachioplasty or arm lift to remove loose tissue under the arms usually caused by massive weight loss.
7- Breast Reconstruction – more post-mastectomy patients are opting for reconstruction as part of their overall breast cancer therapy and treatment, in many cases the reconstruction is performed in adjunct with the mastectomy. Advances in reconstructive techniques now make reconstruction faster with better aesthetic results.
6- Butt Lifts – the re-assigning of fat tissue collected by way of liposuction is re-injected into the individual into other areas of the body. The Butt Lift is the most common fat transfer procedure creating a more curved and firmer posterior. Other buttock lifting and tightening procedures are becoming even more common due to weight-loss procedures.
5-Abdominoplasty – better known as the tummy tuck, the surgery is performed to remove excess fat and tighten the abdominal muscles. Abdominoplasty has seen a steady increase in procedures, from post-pregnancy weight loss as well as from patients who have under-gone weight loss procedures such as Bariatric and Gastric Bypass Surgery.
4-Breast Lift – sagging due to aging or post-pregnancy can be reduced, restoring shape, height and tautness of the breasts’ profile. New advances in techniques provide a longer lasting result with shorter surgery and fewer scars.
3-Liposuction – a popular procedure in body contouring, this less invasive method removes stubborn fatty deposits in specific areas such as the abdomen, love handles, thighs and buttocks.
2-Fat transfer– New technology is making the technique much more reliable. This is an area of Plastic Surgery seeing the fastest advances.
1-Breast Augmentation – will continue to rein as the number one elective plastic surgical procedure. Implants and techniques continue to improve making this procedure the most effective and most reliable body-changing procedure for the right patient.
For some, their New Year’s Resolution includes finally having the surgery they have been contemplating for years.
