Next, incisions are created based on the surgical plan. These small incisions may be made in the armpit (transaxillary), around the areola (periareolar), or in the breast fold (inframammary).

Through these incisions, pockets are created in the chest tissues, either above or below the chest muscles. The implants are placed inside the pockets snugly, and then the incisions are closed with the help of surgical sutures.

Choosing the Right Breast Implants

Type: Saline implants, silicone implants, and gummy bear implants are available. Saline breast implants are filled with sterile saline, while silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel. Silicone implants are inserted pre-filled and tend to feel more natural. Saline implants can be inserted empty and then filled.

Gummy bear breast implants are a newer type of form-stable silicone gel implant. Gummy bear breast augmentation is a very popular option, because when a rupture occurs, gummy bear implants maintain their shape and do not leak.

Size: Breast implants come in a number of sizes, typically anywhere from 120 cc to 850 cc. Unlike bras, they are not measured by cup size. The ideal implant size for you will depend on your aesthetic goals and your body measurements. It’s best to choose implants that are a good fit for your frame.

Profile: Implants are available in a range of profiles, from low to ultra-high. Lower-profile implants are wider and create a more natural look, whereas higher-profile implants have a narrower base and create a more dramatic look.

Texture: Patients can choose between smooth and textured implants. Smooth implants move more freely in the breast and have a more natural look. Textured breast implants have a thicker shell that adheres nicely to the surrounding tissues.

Good Candidates for Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation Recovery

The healing process after breast enhancement in Long Island begins with rest and downtime. A friend or family member should be with you for the first night in order to help out when needed.

Wearing a supportive surgical bra without underwire will also aid in this process. Bruising and swelling will ameliorate over the course of several weeks.

While changes in breast size will be evident immediately following the procedure, you won’t be able to see your full results until all swelling is gone. At this time, patients are typically quite happy with the appearance of their larger breasts.
