One of the most important factors in seeing successful results from cosmetic surgery is a good understanding of your personal goals and whether plastic surgery can meet those goals.
This understanding comes from your initial plastic surgery consultation.
During your initial meeting with your doctor, you can and should ask all the questions you need to ensure that you have as clear of an understanding as possible.
This is also the time when you will communicate your goals to your doctor.
How the Consultation Works
Many doctors differ, but I personally believe in one-on-one contact with my patients, which typically takes about one hour.
Some of the primary things I prefer to discuss are the following:
- What your expectations are for your plastic surgery procedure
- What can and cannot be accomplished with plastic surgery
- What to expect before, during and after the surgery
- Pre-operative precautions
- Post-operative instructions for best possible results
I also like to provide before and after pictures of previous patients to give you a good idea of what you can expect from your procedure.
In addition, I will of course answer any questions you may have and do everything I can to be sure you are comfortable with your decision to undergo plastic surgery and that you will be pleased with the final results.
Whether you have chosen an tummy tuck, a face lift, or a simple procedure such as BOTOX®, I, like most doctors, want to be sure you are confident with your decision and physically and mentally ready to move forward.
