Spring has sprung, and the temperature is rising! Peel off your dark winter clothes, put away your heavy moisturizers and cosmetics, and lighten up! Sunshine and outdoor activities are right around the corner so be prepared to look your best. Read on to learn more about warm weather skin care.
Protect Your Skin
Although you may want to head to the beach with your friends and start working on your tan – don’t! Premature wrinkling and melanoma are two of the most prevalent results of over exposure to the sun. Both men and women need to use sun screen and clothing (hats, long sleeve shirts, etc.) to protect their skin from burning. Reapply sun screen often, especially if you go into the water and be sure it has an SPF of 30 or higher. Don’t forget your lips and the tops of your ears. Once you come back inside, rinse off the salt water and sweat, then slather your skin with a good moisturizer to replenish it and protect it from becoming dry and flaky. Keep your youthful appearance with smooth and soft skin.
Transition to Summer Clothes
For months, you’ve been wearing long sleeves, trousers, boots, sweaters, hats, and anything on hand to stay warm and covered. Now that the temperature is moving upward, you can get your summer clothes out from the back of the closet!
Uncovering means showing more skin. And more skin may mean more body hair. Save yourself the hassle of shaving with laser hair removal. Keep your legs, under arms, and bikini line smooth and silky.
Laser Hair Removal
This is a very popular technique to destroy hair follicles using highly focused light energy. Working best on people with light skin and dark hair, this pigment variation is targeted and just the hair is removed. Producing only slight discomfort, laser hair removal is more effective and more permanent than waxing, shaving, or tweezing.
Spacing sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart, the hair is first trimmed to a few millimeters. Then, the laser is focused on the target area. The light energy is absorbed by the follicles and damaged, making them fall out. The number of sessions needed is dependent on the type and characteristics of the hair; but will be repeated until there is a permanent elimination.
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal
Not only is this an affordable, non-invasive procedure, it is also a safe, permanent solution for smooth and hairless skin. It is much less painful than waxing and less time consuming than shaving. Using a laser means simultaneously removing multiple hair follicles.
After each laser treatment, you may have some slight swelling, redness, and irritation. This will be temporary. Ice packs, aloe vera gel and other over the counter products can be used to treat the discomfort. Stay out of the sun completely until treatments are finished and your skin is totally healed. Always use sunscreen when outdoors.
